Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Dallimore was a college coach.
Dallimore was an all-state pitcher at Reno High School before enrolling at the University of Nevada. His senior year, he would lead the nation in ERA with 1.52 and hold an 11-1 record.
His first coaching job was as an assistant at University of Nevada, Las Vegas under Bob Doering from 1969-1973. Dallimore was promoted to head coach in 1974 and held the position for 23 years. During that span, he compiled a 795-558 record, going to the NCAA Regionals 7 times. In 1996 he led the Rebels to a championship in the 1996 Big West Conference Tournament. His teams would reach the 40 win mark 8 different times and a school record 53 wins in 1980. In 1997 he would leave UNLV to be the pitching coach of the Baltimore Orioles AAA affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. Rochester would go on to win the International League in 1997.
After 1997 he would get a surgery on his knee and planned to take a year off from baseball. Instead he told the Las Vegas Sun [1] that he was retiring from the game at 53-years-old, moving to Reno, and becoming a sales representative.
