Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Irvine played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.

Irvine was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 13th round of the 1976 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign and went to college. He represented the USA in the 1978 Amateur World Series. [1] The Milwaukee Brewers picked him in the 7th round of the 1979 Amateur Draft, and he hit .248/.299/.324 in 71 games for the Burlington Bees in his first season. He stole 77 bags with a .293/.339/.350 batting line in 141 games for the Stockton Ports in 1980, and he played 132 games with a .288/.327/.366 batting line with 48 steals for the El Paso Diablos in 1981. Irvine recorded a .275/.323/.362 batting line with 27 steals in 1982 for the Vancouver Canadians, and he split his 1983 season in the Indios de Ciudad Juarez and Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo of the Mexican League. Irvine returned to the Brewers system in 1984, and his batting line was .260/.321/.321 in 111 games with 31 steals for the Beloit Brewers. He also went 9-for-30 with the Diablos, and he announced his retirement.
