Biographical Information[edit]
Side-arm pitcher Darren O'Day was signed by the scout Tom Kotchman for the Los Angeles Angels as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 2008 Rule V Draft.
O'Day was involved with in a strange incident in 2009. After being acquired by the Texas Rangers from the New York Mets, O'Day arrived during the April 22 game against the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto. He went to the bullpen before a jersey could be prepared. The game went into extra innings, and his services on the mound were required. Since he did not yet have a uniform of his own, he donned Kason Gabbard's #30 jersey (Gabbard was in AAA ball at the time). The rest of the season and next, O'Day wore #56.
