Cienfuegos began play in the Cuban Serie Nacional in 1977-1978. They have never won a title and rarely been competitive. They have had two MVPs - Pedro José Rodríguez, Sr. in 1979-1980 and José Dariel Abreu in 2010-2011. Adiel Palma has won a Most Valuable Pitcher Award with the team.

Nicknamed the Elefantes (Elephants).
