History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1943 St. Louis Cardinals opened the season by failing to score in their 26 first innings before finally pushing a run across the plate. This would stand as a major league season until the 2016 San Diego Padres began their season with three straight losses by shutout and ran the record to 30 innings before finally getting on the board. The Cardinals recovered from that rough start, however, as they finished second in scoring in the National League and also won the pennant with 105 wins.
