Re: #2 - Hey, it's not my fault they threw like gi-- er, really non-dominant pitchers.

As for the value of K/BB, K/9, BB/9, etc., they are actually pretty predictive when you combine using FIP or some other DIPS metric:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_independent_pitching_statistics

Trouble is, you also need to know how many HR they allowed to calculate DIPS, and for some reason the Databank's postseason file doesn't include HR.

At any rate, looking at the coefficients in FIP, the negative impact of a walk does tend to slightly outweigh the positive impact of a strikeout, so a more evolved version of K/BB would probably just need to take that fact into account.

Seriously speaking, I have a question as to the analytical and predictive value of K/9 vs K/BB. Suppose pitcher A has 120 Ks and 20 BB in 200 IP, for a K/9 of 5.4 and a K/BB of 9. Pitcher B has 200 K and 50 BB, for a K/9 of 9 and a K/BB of 4. Which one is "better"?

I find it sexist that you make a list specifically to put a "Lady" last. You also have a "Sherry", a "Jesse", and a "Babe" towards the bottom. What is your agenda here??? Shame on you.
