3. Rondell White had 6 hits in his cycle game on June 11, 1995 (also 6 times on base).

4. 1B, with 23 cycles! This surprised me. Next were CF(20), LF(18), SS(17), 3B(15), RF(14), 2B(12), C(6), DH(5). The last two are NOT surprising.

5. 3rd, with 29. Next were 1st(25), 2nd(18), 4th(16), 5th(15), 6th(13), 7th(6), 8th(5), 9th(3).

Here are five trivia questions about cycles (1957-2007):

1. Who are the oldest and youngest to hit for a cycle?
2. What is the largest number of cycles by a player (9 different people tie for this record), and who had the longest time between first and last cycle?
3. What was the most hits in a game with a cycle, and who was it? This instance also had the most times on base.
4. What starting fielding position has the most cycles?
5. What place in the batting order has the most cycles?

Regarding the last two, one is fairly obvious, but the other was very surprising (to me, anyway).

But a more impressive event may have been the game that Art Shamsky had on August 12, 1966. On that day, he entered the game in the 8th inning and proceeded to hit three home runs before the game was over.

Rickey Henderson did it 4 times. Campaneris, Roberta Kelly, Lofton, Mays and Raines each did it twice.

Both Raines games were in May of 1981.

Lofton had the only game with a HR and 5 SBs, He laso had a 4 SB game as did Crawford, Henderson (twice) Coleman, Kelly and Mays.

Lofton had the only 5 SB ame with a homer

There are 8 games in which a batter hit for the cycle and also stole a base -- but no one did it twice. (one player, batting 9th, stole 2 bases in his "cycle" game -- and he was a catcher.)

On each of these 3 lists, there are 3 (different) players who are either in the HofF or will be (probably, who can predict?) elected soon.
