People talk about how the Mets, <strike>Rockies,</strike> and Padres have never had a no-hitter in their history. But nobody has pitched a no-hitter for a Washington-based team since August 8, 1931. To put this in perspective, in 1968, while in high school in DC, I had a teacher whom I considered to be old then (I was 16, and he was 37), and he was born three weeks after that game. (He was from Chicago, and I learned many years later that his favorite team was the White Sox.)
