According to his Bullpen entry, Jim Maloney threw 187 pitches in his 10-inning no-hitter in 1965. It's interesting that Maloney's three best seasons — 1963, 1965 and 1966 — were exactly the same as Sandy Koufax's years of brilliance. Maloney was also very good in 1964 but threw only two shutouts and went "only" 15-10.

Memo to Andy and Craig Calcaterra: This particular Hispanic surname has two e's and one i, not two i's and one e. To help you remember how to pronounce the name, feel free to add the acute accent to the second vowel (Jiménez — khee-MEH-ness). I've gotten a bit cranky about this error because it's being made repeatedly by people whom I respect and who make it a point to avoid errors in their blogs.
