Dear Lord, why did you have to make this post? I was so happy about baseball season ... now I can't stop thinking about that awful, awful, awful game. Grady bleepin' Little broke my heart into a million little pieces. The fact that Wake - one of the best guys ever to play in Beantown, and maybe the biggest reason that series made it to seven - gave up that home run to Aaron "Crappy Journeyman" Boone was such a cruel injustice ... I can't talk about this anymore.

I was fortunate enough to be at the 2001 D-back/Yanks Series for game 4 and 5, and watched game 7 live in Rockefeller Center on a Jumbo-tron with at least a thousand fans. It has to be ranked "best series" ever. 3 walk-off hits, 4 one run games, not to mention that including those 3 walk-offs, the Yankees tied both game 4 and 5 in the ninth inning to send both contests into extra innings. While those two homers to tie the game in the ninth are not on the list, I think any homer that sends a game into extra innings deserves the same reverence as an extra inning HR.
As a New Yorker, only 7 weeks removed from 9/11, I have to say those games carried so much more weight than your average WS game. I can still feel the stadium shaking and fondly remember Paul Oneil's final Yankee Stadium AB.
For many reasons; THE BEST SERIES EVER!!!
