Randy McCament was signed as a 15th round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants and scout Gene Thompson. He was a starter in his first season in pro ball, 1985, going 7-3, but thereafter was a reliever. He spent parts of five seasons in the Texas League and parts of four seasons in the PCL.
McCament and Kevin Wickander were at Grand Canyon University at the same time and both made their major league debut in 1989.
