Phil Murdock pitched in one game in his major league career. It was on April 19, 1963 against the San Francisco Giants. He pitched the bottom of the eighth, relieving Bob Will; the Cubs were down 4-0. Jim Davenport doubled, Willie Mays grounded out, Davenport advancing to third. Willie McCovey singled in Davenport. Murdock balked and McCovey advanced to second. He then got Orlando Cepeda and Felipe Alou to both ground out to end the inning. Juan Marichal got the win in the game.
