Paul Waterman pitched for the Great Britain national team in the 2007 European Championship, giving up 3 runs in one inning of work. In 2008, Waterman pitched for the Mannheim Tornados in Germany's Bundesliga, going 4-0 with a 1.91 ERA. He went 3-2 with a 3.93 ERA in the postseason, losing games one and three of the finals to the Buchbinder Legionäre's Philipp Hoffschild; fellow British teammate Craig Pycock replaced Waterman as the starter in game five to try win it all, but he also fell to Hoffschild.
In 2009, Waterman was 2-7 with a 5.20 ERA for the Gauting Indians. He tied Gregor Klinc for the most losses in the circuit and led in hit batsmen (12).
