[edit] Biographical Information
Jamie Burke played football at Oregon State University.
On July 6, 2008, Burke's Seattle Mariners were involved in an extra inning game against the Detroit Tigers at Safeco Field. After 14 innings, the M's ran out of pitchers with the score deadlocked at 1 all. Burke - the back-up catcher - was brought in to pitch out of necessity. After serving up a double to his first foe, Miguel Cabrera, he unleashed a wild pitch during the next at bat, allowing pinch runner Mike Hollimon to advance to third base. Marcus Thames then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Hollimon. Burke retired the next two hitters, but the M's failed to score in the bottom of the 15th, giving Burke the loss.
