Jackie Mayo was one of the "Whiz Kids" with the 1950 Philadelphia Phillies. After attending the University of Notre Dame from 1944-47, he was up with the Phils six different years. Only once, in 1952, did he get more than 40 at-bats in a season.
Mayo drew a key walk in the tenth inning of Game Two of the 1950 World Series, but his teammates were unable to score him.
Most of his minor league career was spent in the International League.
