[edit] Biographical Information
"Jack Blott's contributions to the University of Michigan as an athlete, as a coach, and as a staff member earned him a special place in Wolverine athletic lore." - from the book Michigan: Champions of the West
Jack Blott appeared in two games with the 1924 Cincinnati Reds.
Blott was born in Girard, OH, near Youngstown. He attended the University of Michigan at the same time as Charlie Gehringer was there. Jack immediately came to the majors at age 21, making it to the majors more quickly than Gehringer did.
After his one year in the majors, Jack decided he liked football better and became a long-time football coach. He worked at Ford Motor Company for a number of years and had other athletic department roles at the University of Michigan.
