    The Ripken Museum -- 2002-08-21

Needing to waste some time before the Ironbirds game, we took a look at the Ripken story. It's off one of the major roads and around the corner in Aberdeen. It's, for now, in a small building shared by the Vistor's Center. Admission is, at most, $3 (as of 2002). They fit as much information as possible in the room with a dividing wall between the entrance and the bulk of the exhibit. Plenty of memoribilia to look at with a minimal amount for sale in the gift shop. A nice way to spend 30 minutes. And while you're there, continue east/north on the road you just turned off of and reach Havre-de-Grace, Cal Ripken Jr.'s birthplace. Go towards the Chesapeake Bay and walk along the boardwalk, view a light house, and check out the marine museum. Maybe even take a boat ride on a steam boat - like Mark Twain did.
