Great ballpark, Great Time. -- 2002-04-30

The Lakewood Blueclaws have a beautiful, spacious park that should be on every baseball fan's list. It clean and the ballpark staff is very courteous There is not a bad seat in the house. The gift shop is one of the best, it has everything a gift shop should have. They also have a nice beer selection, highlighted by some local micro-brews.

Their Inaugural Season Closes a Success -- 2001-09-04

The Blue Claws ended their first season on a high note last night with a win over the Kannopolis Intimidators (5-0). This win comes as the third in a row for the Blue Claws. The weather was perfect, and the atmosphere was full with anticipation. The last game of the season celebrated "Fan Appreciation Night", with givaways, games and drawings. As always, "Buster" the team's Mascot, kept the fans amused and the children delighted. Having this minor league stadium in the center of the New Jersey Shore, was the perfect diversion from the usual entertainment of the beach, boardwalk, and arcades. I consider the location more convenient than most, as it is easily reached by Rtes. 70, 9, 88, and the Garden State Parkway. I have been to five games this season, and have never seen a traffic jam getting into or leaving the complex. The community has come together to "do it right", with an equal committment from the baseball franchise, and the local business community. This investment has paid off with high praise from local fans and shore visitors. The facility is always clean, the food is not a "major league" price, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. My favorite sections are between home plate and the dugouts at the first and third baselines. I have also been a member of the "Sod Squad", watching the games from the elevated grass section above the outfield. Just bring a blanket and the angle is perfect. Eight dollars buys you a seat, six dollars for a junior or senior ticket. And five will always find you a seat with the Sod Squad. The last time I had this much fun at a baseball game, I was kid in Brooklyn in the 50's. Now I get to watch my 11 year old son experience the same excitement I once did, except its more fun now watching a League which hasn't forgotten ALL the Kids in the stands. I love baseball...

GPU Park - Lakewood Blue Claws -- 2001-08-14

This Philadelphia Phillies Single A team and its new facility near Lakewood is a great time and a great value. It's a better value than the either the sleazy Seaside boardwalk or Great Adventure anytime. If you live or visit the Jersey Shore, catch a game. It might just help some of youse in central Jersey give you a reason to cheer for some young guys who could wind up playing for the Phillies at their new ballpark planned for 2004. Go Blue Claws! Go Phillies!

    Far Beyond Low-A -- 2001-08-12

Lakewood's facility is far and away beyond the usual low-A ball standards. It can handle upwards of 9,500 fans, and has reached close to 9,000 this year. The grass seating features good sight lines, the luxury boxes are nice, and the seating itself is excellent. The ballpark also features a small bar overlooking the centerfield grass, with tables and chairs set out. Makes for a great spot to chat as you watch the game.

Easy access from the Garden State Parkway and I95 make this a great spot to visit.

    BlueClaws Stadium -- 2001-07-29

I think GPU Energy Park is a great minor league baseball facility. I think its in a great location and has a great baseball atmosphere. I especially like the peanut and cracker jack vendors. Go Claws!!!

Great location. Easy to reach from all parts of the Jersey Shore and a first class facility.
