    Fun place -- 2007-05-26

Having grown up in Catawba County, I've spent many summer nights at LP Frans. The team is usually pretty good and actually won the SAL championship in 2002 and 2004. The park is geared toward a family experience with a playground for children, but the baseball is good enough to entertain any fan.

Beautiful little park in an ugly area of Hickory. A few hundred feet closer and it would have been looking over the Catawba River, a min-Pac Bell.Ample parking and getting in and out is pretty easy. There's lots of stuff for the kids to do in and out of the park it they don't want to watch the game (blasphemy!).

Basicly, just a nice place to watch a ball game. The architecure is a nice brick facade, the seating vews are good, and there isn't much screen to clutter the view. Ah, the view! Beyond the outfield walls, a levelled-off hilltop, with a delight for heavy earth-moving equipment buffs. Several dozen of them, creating a daily dust-storm, so have something handy to wipe off your seat. Someday, the view will be a pretty factory, or warehouse, or something.
