Hotel - Where not to stay -- 2005-07-30
Our son played at Perdue Stadium last Sunday, 7/24/05. It was a great experience except for the hotel. I do not recommend Microtel Inn & Suites. I reserved a room for 2 baseball players for the night of July 23. I gave my credit card #, received a confirmation #, and told the reservation person they would be arriving late. I was told "no problem".
The boys played a dbl hdr Saturday in Severna Park, drove for 2-3 hrs. and arrived (exhausted) at the hotel around 2 am. The hotel cancelled their reservation and gave their room away. They were stranded, tired, and had to play a dbl hdr on Sunday. From 2am - 3 am, I am on the phone asking what they could do for the boys. I was basically told, too bad, I could speak to the mgr in the morning.
Well I drove to the hotel and tried to speak with a manager in the morning - still no manager available. The Microtel Inn & Suites does not care about customers.
Basically, don't reserve a room at the Microtel Inn & Suites. A reservation is not actually a reservation. You could be stranded like our boys from the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

A Gem On The Shore -- 2004-09-16
Over this summer I moved my family from New York down to the Delmarva Peninsula. Our second week in town we went to catch a game at Perdue Stadium and was blown away. To start getting tickets was one of the easiest things I have ever done. All we did was call the stadium and was transferred to a friendly staff memeber who took my order and promised they would be waiting at the pick up window. Once we got to the stadium sure enough we walked up to the shortest line and within a minute we had our tickets and were headed inside. My 7 year old son loved Sherman the second we walked came in the door, his charateristics were good enough to make even me and my wife chuckle. Also were ever you got Nick at Night please don't put him back. WOW what a great personality. He made the between inning stuff great. If anyone reads this please take over advise and go to see the Delmarva Shorebirds. We promise you will love it.
Sincerly, The O'Donnell Family

2004 Stadium Review -- 2004-06-17
Delmarva, Maryland South Atlantic League “A” Overall Rating: A
Facility: A
Great to see hte old General Manager out and a new on in. They have done a fantastic job here. Thanks for making it fun, great job!
Try to make it here for a game. Staff is great and they are making an all out effort to make the game fun. With the bypass now open the stadium is easy to reach. Karen recently told me that this has replaced Frederick as her home stadium.
The small concession stand behind home plate offers top notch pizza and soft serve ice cream. For a family the large pizza is a good deal. The older couple next to us (they come here a lot) told us they loved it. The rest of the concession stands are located on the concourse behind the General Admission seats.
Parking is free and ample.
Atmosphere: A
The Sherman mascot we saw against Lexington (early in the season) is the best COMCAST Spectacor Mascot we have seen. Heck, he is one of the best Mascots we have ever seen period and we have been to over 125 different stadiums. I can see why he was voted a top NCAA mascot. I won’t mention his name but the GM should put him on the payroll. He is worth the price of admission, brilliant!
The ushers we know along the first base line are terrific. They work the crowd, talk to the fans, carry trash and are excellent representatives for the organization.
Try to get here early in the season. Once school closes the crowds pour in. The fans here may be a little rustic and there are some grey hairs in the crowd but they love their team and are the most vocal fans in Maryland.
Try to catch the Dingbats, they are a terrific group and perform on Sunday.

We give the management here credit for making so many good changes. The 7th inning Chicken Dance instead of the normal “Take Me Out” was not well received by us.
The leader of the Happy Harry’s chicken flock was way over the top on his first appearance and the poor voice quality from the head set really hurt. While it is early we thought that Meagan should be the leader of the Happy Harry’s chicken flock. She is more down to earth and laid back. With the great mascot you don’t need the high pressure.
If they bring back the Mustang toss they would earn an A+ Sadly the car company said no

Sunday is fun day. We got a great mascot and the Dingbats. The Dingbats are a group of three young men, the leader is from the Jersey Shore, and they specialize in old vaudeville acts in the tradition of baseball clowns like Nick Altrock. They did magic tricks, juggling, stilt walking and even a pie in your face. It is all good family fun and we enjoyed the comedy bits throughout the game. The Shorebirds should be congratulated for their efforts to make the games fun.
In our previous visits we were told only season ticket holders were allowed to enter via the lobby. This evidently has changed. For those of us with bad knees it was a nice touch, thanks.
Visit the Eastern Shore Baseball Museum located on the first floor.
The Best -- 2003-10-19
I love going to the shorebirds. That's where I spend my summers. It's such a great atmosphere and wow the players are awesome. If you're in Salisbury or nearby, and you love baseball- I highly recommend the Delmarva Shorebirds! It's made a great impact on my life!
WOW What a place!!!!! -- 2003-10-16
I recently moved to Delmarva, and I tell you the first thing I did is went to see a baseball game. The Shorebirds hands down has to be the best minor league experience I have ever had. I come from the western shore and have been to many Baysox games. Well, the Baysox should come out to Delmarva and see how things are done.

Stadium Review for 2003 -- 2003-09-20
Overall Rating: B
Facility A
Nice facility in a great location. The stadium has good comfortable box seats, great site lines and a concession area that allows fans to check out the action on the concourse level. This is a feature my sister with four hungry kids appreciates. They opened a new restaurant and we heard it was very nice.
In some ways it is closer to Aberdeen then its COMCAST sisters to the west. There is a large group area behind home plate. The lower concourse has a small concession area right below it that features pizza and ice cream.
Atmosphere B
Good crowds and the fans enjoy and support their team. The stadium store is nice but they should see what they do up the road in Wilmington. The game day staff is friendly but beware dealing with these people (see below).
The Mustang toss was one of the best events in the game. Sadly the mustang has moved off to be replaced by well I don’t know what it is but I wouldn’t drive it. (Several years’ back my throw bounced in front of the mustang).
Value B+
They held the line on ticket prices. General Admission is only $6. We usually try to visit early in the year when the traffic to the Eastern Shore isn’t to bad. The food while expensive like all of the COMCAST parks is for the most part good. You get more ice cream here than any of the other MD parks!
Odds and Ends
I try to encourage people to visit the Eastern Shore Baseball Museum located on the first floor. It has some nice displays and should be given greater ink.
Our friend from Boston Pete ranked Delmarva and the #1 minor league park in Maryland. Frederick and Aberdeen tied for second and Bowie was last. He didn’t visit Hagerstown.
Buyer beware!
Back in the fall I ordered four Christmas packages that contained a fan pack and a team set. The cost was slightly higher then the normal fan packs. I figured it would be a great gift. Well I got two of the four but the others never arrived.
After the holidays I called. I was told they were on the way. Oops they lied because several days later I got a bill for two sets. A call to the office and I heard about their computer problems and that the items had not been mailed. Weeks passed and no cards/tickets.
Finally I called and gave them 48 hours to send me the items or I would cancel the order. Well I got the tickets but no team sets. More calls and emails and no items. By now it had cost me more then the $10 they owed me. Finally I had to talk to the GM and received a check in May. No team should treat their fans like this. When I got the check I thought I would get a note from the GM apologizing for the problem. I guess he was just too busy.

Can you afford to go? -- 2002-12-09
This is a decent park with good food and entertainment. However, since Comcast purchased the team (along with teams in Bowie and Fredrick ) the prices are similar to your cable TV bill. Not coincidently, Comcast probably is your cable provider if you live in this general area.

The Shorebirds may be great but the prices stink -- 2001-07-06
The stadium at Delmarva is a very nice place to see a ballgame however make sure you eat and drink before you go. The concession prices rival those of a major league ball park and the merchandise is even worse. Having been to many minor league parts mainly AA and above Delmarva ranks only second to Bowie in cost for a supposed family night out. Coincidently Bowie and Delmarva are owned by the same people. For a team in a very small market town the prices for admission and food are absurd howver the stadium is worth seeing and the team is normally competitive.
