Best Lil' Ballpark in Texas -- 2005-06-02
Since its inception in 2000, the Express organization has served as a model for how minor league franchises should be run. They've certainly pulled out all the stops in this ballpark. Great family atmosphere, a rustic setting and attractive promotions (incl. Thirsty Thursdays-$1 beer/sodas) combine to provide an unforgettable experience for the entire family.
That being said, The Dell Diamond stops at nothing, however, to reach out to the typically casual Central Texas baseball fan. Basepall purists beware!!! Hardcore, old-school baseball fans, like myself, will be a little disappointed to find themselves in the middle of a theme park-like atmosphere that includes such ballpark staples such as a rock climbing wall, moonwalk, basketball court, chicken dances and a swimming pool. So if you're bringing children, be prepared to pay little attention to the ballgame. But hey, it's all about targeting your market, and baseball purists are few and far between in Central Texas.
All in all, Dell Diamond is truly a gem that provides first-class entertainment for the entire family.
