    Zephyrs will play in 2006 -- 2005-09-22

Zephyr field survived Katrina. It's currently being used as a command post. Hey Katrina...you didn't blow hard enough baby!!!!

The previous posts are accurate, but having lived here for some time, if you are in New Orleans on vacation, do not take the city bus. Rent a car for the day or take a cab (same cost) Its much safer.

THE baseball fix in the Crescent City -- 2003-10-16

There's not a lot of other options for baseball in New Orleans, excluding Tulane, UNO, etc., except the Zephyrs -- but they're never a bad choice. Ticket are reasonable, about six dollars or so as I recall. It's also a little ways out of town, in Metairie, but not that far at all. It most easily reached by car, though I'm sure the bus gets there eventually from downtown N.O.

The stadium itself is really nice. A perfect place to cool down on hot summer evenings. Seating is gradually sloped so it has that open feeling and nice, big rows make most seats super accessible. Most of all, there's been a steady stream of fun prospects in the Astros organization that have come through there: Berkman, Oswalt, Miller, etc. Also "Thirsty Thursdays" used to feature the 2 for 1 (or reduced price) beer special -- much like the one here in Portland at PGE Park.

Zephyr Field certainly is among the finest in Deep South minor league baseball experiences I've had. It's tough not to tell that you're down in Louisiana when the mascots are Boudreaux and Clotile the Nutria! Enjoy!

The Shrine on Airline -- 2001-06-01

Admittedly, not many people think baseball when they are in New Orleans. However, Zephyr Field is probably the best value in New Orleans. It's a good looking field and a very fan friendly stadium. I'm not big on swimming pools at ballparks, but I understand that's how you can draw large groups. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
