Old Timers (Batboy & ice Cone Girl) year of 1949 -- 2003-05-20

I just want to make a comment about the past at Dunn Field. Both of my parents used to work at Dunn Field during the 1949 season while they were in High School.

My father, called Paul Dailey at the time, Real name is Thomas P. Dailey used to be the Batboy during the 1949 season. He said the During the pregame and the 7 inn streach that he used to go to home plate with a Bat, Ball & Glove. He would hit the ball straight up into the air and pick up the glove off home plate and catch the ball behind his back for the Crowd. Now that's Entertainment. Does anyone remember any of this?

My mom is Patricia Dailey, but during the 1949 season she was known as Pat Moylan or Patsy Moylan. She used to work at the Ice Cone stand all by her self. She must looked pretty cute in the stand working.

Would love any information on them both of memeries of yours and or Pictures of them back then doing thier thing (work).

I only visited the staduim when I was about 7 years of age and having a bag of peanuts sitting down on the left field line in the stands. Pretty cool seeing the field from those seats. Any info can can be sent to me via email as you can see my email address. Thanks you for letting me write to you about them. Dave

Old time ball park -- 2002-12-09

This is a fine old time park with everything you might need. The fans are friendly make going to the game a social event. The chicken speedies (sp?) are a treat. Try them if you aren't from this general area for something different.

Great Place to see a game -- 2002-11-04

Elmira has great seats and knows how to entertain a crowd.

Good time, but where was everybody? -- 2002-05-13

Rolled into the stadium about 20 minutes before gametime and no one was there. Honestly, there were probably about 2 dozen fans, tops. My friend and I had a great time. We sat in the Elmira on deck circle, practically, and had our own personal usher who brought us food and beverage. I can't say it's always like this, but it was a great evening with a good (though empty) atmosphere. While in Elmira, I recommend you also stop to see the grave of Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain.

    Entertainment -- 2001-06-19

Elmira Pioneers, Dunn Field - its the best entertainment for the money around the area. The Pioneers are a good ball club. The stadium is old but in good shape. We had an enjoyable evening!
