Fifth Third Field in Dayton -- 2006-06-07

Simple put, this is a gem of minor league baseball. This park is AAA quality at the A level and draws fans as such. They have sold out every single game in the parks existance and finish in the top 10 in overall attendence in the minors despite being Single-A. On top of that, the park is beautiful and you can walk up and get lawn seats for most games. The scorecard with the Dragon is neat. It has its share of zany promotions and un-needed sound effects that many minor league games do. This is not small time single-a ball, the stadium and game have the feel of triple-a. If you have a chance to see this park and attend a game here, you should definately pay it a visit.

    WOW -- 2006-01-31

This is by far one of the nicest facilities in minor league baseball. I've have been going to a few games each season for the past couple of years, and it is so much fun. They do a lot of promotions during the game and entertain between innings with little games and stuff. It is a perfect place to take children to enjoy minor league baseball. Who knows, you might be seeing one of the Cincinnati Reds next big star. Over the years Austin Kearns, Wily Mo Pena, and Adam Dunn have played there just to name a few. The food is good and their isn't a bad seat in the park, from the lawn seats in right field, the Dragon's Lair in left field, and to the upper deck. Parking is not a problem as well. It is usually around 3 to 5 dollars to park, and although it is downtown, security is defintely not an issue. They are constantly having promotional nights and are defintely one of the best minor league experiences in the state, if not the country.

the game is great -- 2004-05-10

I live in troy Ohio and I love to go see the Dayton Dragons Play, it makes it fun for the whole family, even kids can go and not get bored of watching the game. I like that between innings they give gifts to the fans, they toss shirts, gum, baseballs, ect. into the stands for people to grab and go home happy with a new gift. I caught a $25.00 t-shirt, the only problem was that it was a XXL shirt. The game is a great place to go and I suggest to go see a game for a great time.

    Wouldn't go back there again -- 2004-05-01

I grew up in the Dayton area, and two years ago attended a game at Firth-Third Park. The park is okay, although I would be very careful if leaving early and walking in the neighborhood to your parked car. I found a free parking spot one block south of the park on Jefferson (if memory serves) about an hour before the game. The view beyond the OF fence is nice with an industrial building across the street.

What is so offensive is the constant promotions throughout the game. There is constant music over the PA system between batters and is played once the batter is in the box and until the pitchers release the pitch. Seems like there is always a promotion between innings. Minor league baseball seems to think that the baseball fan can't entertain themselves at the ballpark and they must go it for them. Management must be trying to appeal to the casual fan, but they lost this hard-core fan forever.

A splended time is guaranteed for all -- 2001-07-12

Dayton appears to be a city on the decline but the city loves its Dragons. Ample parking. A beautiful new brick facility with a huge courtyard that on close inspection is a baseball diamond. Be sure to reserve tickets in advance, they are hard to come by. Heater the Dragon is a great mascot who, busy as he was stopped for a picture with my sons after saying we came from St.Louis just for a Dragons game. Actually we were in Cinti visiting my brother. Ticket and parking prices are very reasonable. Even if you couldnt get tickets you can line up with the bums for a geat view from the sidewalk.

Attended two games in two nights at Dayton. As you walk into the park, they GIVE you a program with a scorecard. The staff is extrememly friendly and the concessions are reasonable. Both nights sat 4-6 rows behind the plate, so my seats were great. There is something going on all the time, between innings there is always something going on, a skit, a contest, a game, something. I would find it hard to believe you could come to a game at Dayton and not have a good time. The biggest problem is getting tickets. As far as I know, the only tickets available are in the lawn area in the outfield. A great experience, very worthwhile.

    The Ballpark -- 2001-06-04

I attended a few games at the Dragons brand new stadium last year and I must say that it was incredible. The way that the stadium is situated in the city is remarkable and it gives a very cozy feel. There are great lawn seats above the left field fence where one can lay down a blanket and relax. There is not a bad seat in the house. The trip to Dayton is well worth it.
