Needs sprucing up -- 2008-04-22
Pohlman Field has been around since 1981 and is getting a bit down at the heel. A little paint and general cleaning would help a lot. One particularly annoying feature was that so many bulbs in the scoreboard were burned out, it was hard to make out the ball and strike count. This is something easily remedied, so it makes me wonder if team management is paying attention to what the place looks like. They also have more advertisements in the park than any place I've ever seen. No vertical surface seems to go without a sign. They even have advertising above the urinals, to get a "captive" audience! (They also had blocked all the doors open to the Men's room, giving passersby a peek at the guys doing their business. I wasn't too happy about that either.) The playing surface seems to be in good shape, the announcer was upbeat but not annoying, and they had LOTS of between inning promotions to keep the activity level high.Larry Epke
Worth theTrip... -- 2004-05-23
I haven't been diappointed with a night out at a minor league ballpark yet. Pohlman Field is typical...not new or flashy, but all you need on a warm summers evening with a small town team. Inexpensive and fun.

Great little place, very inexpensive -- 2003-12-20
Pohlman Field at Telfer Park is a nice little ballpark. Very easy to find, free parking, cheap tickets. The place doesn't try to be a major league park, it knows where it fits in the baseball world. If you like going down to see good, cheap baseball and are not concerned about suites and flashy scoreboards you will love this place. This is what minor league baseball should be. A mild July night at this park is heaven.

I go to Beloit about 10 times a year and always look forward to going.
The ballpark is easy to find, but if you have a little time before the game, it's a good look to go down across the border to Rockford and follow the interstate to marinelli field. A little ways from Marinelli is where the Rockford Peaches of the Girls league played. There are still signs up in the area about them and plaques.
Pohlman Field is a small time field. The food is great. I recommend sitting behind the first base dugout. The sight lines are good. The metal bleachers are hard, and very loud. The sound system isnt really that good. The staff puts together a great game off the field. There mascot is ornery sometimes, but kids like the turtle.
The food is good, I highly recommend the brats. If you go out in the summer go to the little bar in right field. They have beer and brats out there. The beer is cheap and comes in a big cup.

A good day out -- 2002-01-07
This is a nice little park in a residential neighborhood. It has a small-town feel to it, especially when all of the kids go on the field during the 7th inning stretch to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".

A pleasant, unpretentious place -- 2001-07-23
Beloit's stadium can be easily found by driving from Milwaukee on I-43 until it ends, then just take a left at the sign and go through a small housing development and there you are. Parking is free and tickets are cheap at this small facility that mainly features aluminum bleachers for seats. You can splurge and pay $6 for "box seats" which are molded plastic seats.
The concessions are cheap, especially the t-shirts. The between-inning promotions aren't as loud as in other minor league parks, mainly because the sound system isn't as loud. You can actually talk to someone between innings.
