good place to play -- 2008-07-17

As a person who has played at now GCS ballpark I would say that the park was great. The field was in exceptional condition at they had a hottub in right that they sell tickets for. It truely was a great atmosphere.

    GMC Stadium -- 2006-06-07

I had the opportunity to attend a game here last season. It was quite a night. The park itself is top-notch, especially considering it is indy ball in the Frontier League. You can see downtown St Louis across the river when you walk up the the main entrance. Parking was easy and free. My girl and i sat on the right field lawn, which had a nice grade to it and the whole right field wall is low so it provides a nice view. The wall is also close so you can expect a liner to come back at ya during the game. the left field wall is much higher, a nice effect. There are two main things i rememeber about the game there, # 1 the music they played was great! The beginning of "Hit the road jack" after every Grizzly K, priceless!!! and # 2 the Grizzles manager knocked over an umpire and got thrown from the game and had to walk all the way through the door in center field. A good time and a awesome park!

    GMC Park -- 2005-08-15

I am sure you will find an awful lot of people who would disagree with Steves negative comments of both St. Louis area ballparks. Given the fact that GMC Park was built exclusively for an independant minor league team, its not at all bad. Although it appears to be out in the middle of nowhere, youre only ten minutes outside of downtown St. Louis, five minutes outside of South County St. Louis and moments from several important Illinois towns. Nearby are the Cahokia mounds (an ancient Indian civilization) and Our Lady Of The Snows which has a fantastic Christmas lights display and holiday activities every winter. Youre very near many East side nightclubs, casino and other adult activities. Surrounding the park is a terrific view of the St. Louis skyline and its world reknown Gateway Arch. Seating and concessions are very reasonable, comperable at least. Like most minor league ball parks, the outfield wall is plastered with advertisements which, in my opinion, add flavor to the baseball experience. About 50 to the west on hiway 70 are their Frontier League rivals, the River City Rascals. Just be carefull driving the surrounding hiways as it gets rather confusing on both sides of the Mississipi near downtown. You dont want to end up where you dont want to be.

    GMC stadium -- 2003-09-06

If this is part of your baseball trip get your tickets before you go. In 2003 the Grizzlies set a Frontier League record with something like 163,000 fans in 45 home games. The stadium was opened in 2002. For a year or two before that the team played in a high school park.

Decent stadium compared to Busch -- 2003-08-03

A rather bland stadium that sits in the middle of an industrial park so there are no surrounding buildings. As far as Frontier League stadiums go, I'll take Bosse Field in Evansville anyday. It's old and has character, someting sorely lacking at GMC. The beer's cheaper in E'vile too. GMC Stadium could have been much better if it were built in a neighborhood instead of alongside an interstate. But I guess GMC Stadium is a good stadium for St. Louisans who've been forced to watch baseball at that horrific hunk of concrete across the river from GMC.

Actually, GMC Stadium is in an excellent location. Easy access, 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis, 10 minutes from Fairview Hgts or 10 minutes from South St. Louis County; all with plenty of amenities. This is right off the interstate in a relatively undeveloped part of St. Louis. Two million people live within 30 minutes of this facility and yet I could always get a nice seat. Lookin' forward to the 2003 season!

    Nice Place -- 2002-07-23

GMC Stadium is another very fine stadium, in the fashion of such places as the River City Rascals home, T.R. Hughes Ball Park in nearby O'Fallon Missouri.

But my biggest complaint is the location. GMC is REALLY in the middle of nowhere. We roamed several miles to find a motel, and I'm glad we did that before the game, as heaven knows where we would have ended up afterwards. The park has access to the expressway, but there's nothing else around it. This is in contrast to most towns which now are building stadiums in neighborhoods that benefit from the siting. With no restaurants, bars, stores or motels anywhere nearby, this stadium can't help the local economy the way other stadiums do in other towns.

    New Stadium in 2002 -- 2001-08-31

This is only a temporary facility and is right now kind of a dump. But the Grizzlies should have their NEW park ready for the 2002 season and continue the heated rivalry with the River City Rascals in what is planned to be a beautiful baseball ediface. I just hope the franchise can make it to see its new home before it goes belly-up.
