Parking -- 2006-04-09
I can't believe how terrible parking has got at New Britain Stadium over the past couple of years. At one game last summer, I got to the parking lot 15 minutes before the game started, thinking that I had plenty of time to buy a ticket, get some food, and see the first pitch. Boy, was I wrong! It took me 20 minutes to actually park the car, and I missed the whole first inning by the time I actually got to my seat. So from now on, I get to the stadium very early, about 45 minutes before the game starts. At that time, the lot isn't too full and you can park right away.
Otherwise, the place is great. Every seat is a good seat. You can even sit down in the best seats if the stadium isn't too full, because the ushers usually don't check where you sit. They have a nice grill on top of the third base side bleachers, along with a few select beers.
If you go in the evening, sit on the third base side, otherwise you'll be facing the sun for the first hour of the game.

Alternate Parking -- 2005-06-06
Parking at New Britain Stadium hasn't gotten any better since the crowds have been getting larger over the past couple years. They also increased the parking fee to $3
There is an alternate parking location though. You can park at NB High School at the back of the stadium. They still charge $3 there (Someone was there collecting money. I assume he was employed by the town.)
You have to walk down a steep hill and around to the front of the stadium, but you do beat the traffic.

Rock Cats giveaway bobbleheads -- 2003-12-19
I am looking for bobbleheads given out by the New Britian Rock Cats in 2001, 2002, and 2003. They are: Stan/Stu Cliburn duals, Rocky the mascot, and Justin Morneau I have Minnesota Twins bobbleheads to trade or willing to buy. How are the crowds on the giveaway games and any scheduled in 2004?
too much for the kids -- 2002-08-05
New Britain, where I lived last year, is the only place where I've had the chance to watch any minor league baseball and while both the team and quality of play were generally quite good, the number and frequency of promotions catering to kids is tiresome and their repetition game after game even more so. I know what a big deal they make about the minors being so family-friendly, but there are also adults that like going to games with friends or alone, yet we're stuck watching kids racing back and forth trying on jerseys and big shoes and catching frisbees on pizza paddles. There's not a single ½ inning without some such promotion before it.
Don't miss the good food at and views from the rooftop grill.
And, yes, the parking's a pain, exacerbated by their need to have teenagers poitning you to this or that space (grrrrr).

Traffic -- 2002-05-20
I used to go to the Rock Cats often, but the past two times, the traffic getting into the Stadium was so bad that I gave up. Prior to 1999, the only time that I can remember that traffic was like this was when Brien Taylor (a pitching phenom in the early 90s) came to town with the Albany-Colonie Yankees. I prefer the Ravens (or even a longer drive to the Navigators) as opposed to sitting in traffic. If you plan on going, certainly do not go at the last minute on a nice summer's evening - you will miss the first couple of innings. Otherwise, the facilities are excellent.

Great place to watch a game! -- 2001-05-18
New Britain Stadium was built only a few years ago and replaced a decrepid old stadium that was home to the Red Sox double A affiliate. Tickets at the new stadium are generally around five dollars for seats on the left or right field sides. Almost all the seats in the place are excellent for watching the game although if you are going to an evening game, it is usually better to sit on the left side. That is because the sun goes down facing the right field bleachers. Overall, this is an extremely fan friendly place to watch some baseball!
