Very nice park -- 2007-11-05
Had decided to go out to a game in Altoona for the day, and this is one of the nicest minor league parks I have ever been to. Yes, consessions are a bit pricey here, some of the stuff near major league prices, but there isnt a bad seat in the stadium, and ticket prices are good. If you want to watch Batting Practice, you can easily watch from the parking garage beside the park (though its much too far to get a baseball or two). Getting out can be a bit of a hassle though, as, depending on where you park, you have to drive through a neighborhood just to get to the road to Interstate 99. Other than that, its quite a nice park, one I would defently recomend to go to a game to.scott
Nice Place -- 2007-05-15
Visited here May 2007. Nice, clean stadium. Concessions are surprisingly pricey, and rather boring. Quality is that of a high-school game. Otherwise, a very nice experience. Erik Estrada of CHiPS was there when I visited. Funny. He signed autographs all night long! Didn't realize he was still popular.Larry Z
Wear ear-plugs -- 2002-07-10
This is one of the loudest ballparks on earth. Wear ear-plugs to protect your health against the jet-port decibels, expecially when they play YMCA. Some ushers are considering going to OSHA to ask that ear-protection be required. The stadium has been required to buy three neighborhood houses because of the noise generated during tames. Aside from that, this organization really has it together. Staff ;are very professional, intelligent, helpful people. Environment is super-clean, with cleaning process taking place throughout the game. Parking is in the adjacent 3-level parking garage, $1. One of the prettiest new ballparks I've seen.

Got to see the Altoona Curve and the Blair County Ballpark last week (8-30-01). They played Trenton and lost 8-3. The ballpark is excellent and as of right now, not having visited PNC Park in Pittsburgh, I could almost imagine it being a "letdown" compared to the facilities in Altoona!
The seats we had (Section 117) were amazing and the total experience is one that I will never forget. The concessions were reasonably priced and very good, although you probably ought to get to the bar-b-que pit early to get a hand on the chicken! Every employee we encountered was courteous and knowledgeable, and the other fans we sat by were a joy, also.
As for the game, Altoona was leading 3-0 into the top of the 7th, when Trenton took an 8-3 lead. For the eighth and ninth innings, Manager Dale Sveum brought in John Wehner to pitch. Wehner, a veteran of ten Major League seasons, had...to my knowledge...not pitched before in a professional game. This was truly a memorable night to be at one of America's finest ballparks!

Great seats everywhere, rightfield line, outfield. -- 2001-08-25
Great time, easy access from highway. Good food and parking. A great atmosphere for families. The Pirates and Altoona proper should be proud of this grade A facility.

Just visited Altoona's Blair County Ballpark over the past weekend. It is one of the finest in the Eastern League. The outfield is a masterpeice, with "Altoona Curve" on a hill in left field, a beautiful scoreboard in center and roller coaster of a nerby amusement park in right field. Decent views are available from all of the seats and vendors actually make it to the upper deck! The only down side to the park is that there are no water fountians on the upper level, but concession prices are rather low compared with other parks. BCB ranks second in my opinion out of the six Eastern League parks I have visited, just behind Canal Park in Akron. Rounding out the Southern Half of the EL are (3)Riversdie Stadium in Harrisburg (4)Prince George's Stadium in Bowie (5)Erie's Jerry Uht and (6)GPU Park in Reading. Most in Harrisburg's charm lies in the riversdie setting, but decent concessions and large bathrooms along with adequate parking make the stadium one of the better ones. One in and out road makes getting to and from the park a little difficult, though. Bowie's park seems massive compared to the other stadiums, and our visit was a little on the wet side and got cut short (6 innings), but our time there was enjoyable. The large stadium has adequate vendors, parking and concessions and the on-field games keep the family environment at the forefront. GPU, despite its renaming, is still the oldest, most-outdated park in the Southern Division on the EL. There is virtually no parking nearby the stadium and the city atmosphere loses some of its luster when none of the restaurants or shops have team-oriented themes.

I live here in Altoona, and this is really a nice park. Just built a few yrs ago, there's adequate parking, ticket prices are very reasonable, food is good, park is located next to a small amusement park which is nice for family days out.
Also located near the major shopping area of Altoona, mall, food, lodging all a 2 minute drive.
Great park.
