    More NC Baseball -- 2008-07-16

This is a great old stadium. The brick entrance is great, and while it is a small stadium the views of the field are great. The seats seemed to be much newer than the stadium itself. The food was nothing special but ok. Parking was limitted, though I didn't have a problem. The only issue was that it seemed to me like foul balls had a chance of hitting the car, which is always a bit worrisome. If you want to check out a classic minor league stadium though, this is one that you should not pass up.

    Hard to find -- 2002-07-10

This ballpark is difficult to find, and it's even harder to find your way back onto the highway out of town. Stop and ask directions a lot. (NCDOT signs, for some reason, point you the opposite way. Ignore them.) This is a very atrractive stadium, and the field views are excellent.

    Ernie Shore Field -- 2001-07-31

Ernie Shore Field is named after the pitcher who relieved Babe Ruth and threw a disputed perfect game. This is a great place to watch a game. You're right on top of the action no matter where you sit. The best seats are in section LL, just along the third-base side. These are the reserved (blue) seats. You have a very good view of the entire field. There are some obstructed views under the roof. The box seats aren't that great, unless you like being at field-level.

The food is okay for a ballpark, but a bit expensive. Two dogs and two large drinks will be about eight bucks. The nachos are standard quality. Cotton candy and peanuts by the ton if want that.

There are some attractions for small children, including a carousel. Bathrooms are clean and not usually crowded. Parking is not good. Spaces at the park itself are limited and cost $2 per car. There are several places to eat near the park, but many will be closed by the time a night game ends.
