Citibank Park - Home of the Long Island Ducks -- 2006-09-26

After years of threatening to make the trip to Long Island (from New Jersey) to see a Ducks game, I finally made it on Saturday, 9/23/06.

Citibank Park is a nice, functional ballpark, easily accessible from the Southern State Parkway. The place almost always sells out and the fans are dedicated. The Ducks offer free parking, a rarity anywhere in vicinity of NYC, a very nice touch.

The interior of the park is rather bland, the grey concrete of the seating bowl reminds me of Shea Stadium, pre- blue & orange seats. It is really not very distinguishable from other minor/independent league ballparks in the tri-state area.

Some disappontments included the bland tasting food, (even the popcporn lacked taste!) & the team store (I though they would have a bigger selection of items and they were sold out of the 2006 team baseball card set :( .

I don't think I will make another trip to Citibank Park in the near future (barring a really good promotion) as I would like to visit ballparks I've yet to see in upcoming seasons. But those in the vicinity should check it out and you'll have a good time.

    Great Atmosphere -- 2002-09-17

Have gone several times over the last two years. It's alot of fun and easy on the expenses. Parking is free and the food is about 2/3 the price of a Mets/Yankees game.

This is a wonderful place to introduce a grandchild to a baseball atmosphere , without the big time expense.

    A nice night out -- 2002-01-21

EAB stadium is as nice as a minor league ballpark gets, and Bud Harrelson has done a great job in putting together a nice franchise. There's an extensive promenade, lots of food stands, and changing seats throughout the game to get a different perspective generally isn't a problem. The quality of baseball is far from the best as this is the Atlantic League, and is totally unaffiliated with major league baseball. For a $6-$8 ticket though, this is a fun place to watch a game if you are out on the Island and don't want to take the trip and expense to see the Mets or Yankees.

Front row seats cheaper than Yankee Stadium parking.
