April 16, 1956: Traded by the Brooklyn Dodgers to the Kansas City Athletics for Lee Wheat, Tom Saffell, and cash.

November 20, 1957: Traded by the Kansas City Athletics with Billy Martin, Mickey McDermott, Tom Morgan, Lou Skizas, and Gus Zernial to the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later, Bill Tuttle, Jim Small, Duke Maas, John Tsitouris, Frank House, and Kent Hadley. The Detroit Tigers sent Jim McManus (April 3, 1958) to the Kansas City Athletics to complete the trade.
