Man, that’s a lot of big October baseball for Bernie Williams. The Yankees went 10-2 in those 12 games where Williams had 3+ hits. Not too shabby.

  1. As always with these “most times in the post-season” issues, it’s useful to mention that the Yankees benefit from having tons of post-season appearances in an era when there are tons of post-season games. Never mind that the league championships are now 7 games instead of 5, there’s a whole extra layer of playoffs with the divisional round.

That being said, it’s the Yankees who have been to the post-season 12 straight times, with a 13th a strong possibility this year. Williams has delivered big time on many occasions, and often against some of the very best pitchers.

Notice who sticks out on your second list above? Eddie Collins. He’s the only one from truly a long time ago, and that’s damned impressive.
