Brandon Webb is Stingy

Filed under: Streak FindersSky @ 12:37 pm

Today’s sports news is headlined by Brandon Webb’s streak of 42 scoreless innings — thanks to his third straight shutout last night against the Braves.  There are eight pitchers with more consecutive shutouts, if you consider a shutout to be nine innings of no-run baseball.  Notice that four of them occurred in 1968.

  2. Webb’s streak is absolutely amazing in today’s offensive era. I’d say his streak is already more impressive than Hershiser’s, although don’t forget that Hershiser added another 8 innings in Game 1 of the LCS that year.
