June 11, 1955: Signed by the Detroit Tigers as an amateur free agent (bonus baby).

November 20, 1957: Traded by the Detroit Tigers with a player to be named later, Kent Hadley, Frank House, Duke Maas, John Tsitouris, and Bill Tuttle to the Kansas City Athletics for Gus Zernial, Billy Martin, Tom Morgan, Lou Skizas, Mickey McDermott, and Tim Thompson. The Detroit Tigers sent Jim McManus (April 3, 1958) to the Kansas City Athletics to complete the trade.
