April 3, 1986: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the San Diego Padres for Bob Patterson.

August 30, 1989: Traded by the San Diego Padres with Luis Salazar to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later, Darrin Jackson and Calvin Schiraldi. The Chicago Cubs sent Phil Stephenson (September 5, 1989) to the San Diego Padres to complete the trade.
