December 8, 1980: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Terry Kennedy, John Littlefield, Al Olmsted, Mike Phillips, Kim Seaman and Steve Swisher to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later, Rollie Fingers, Bob Shirley and Gene Tenace. The San Diego Padres sent Bob Geren (December 10, 1980) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade.

March 26, 1982: Released by the San Diego Padres.
