Before 1947 Season: Signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers as an amateur free agent.

April 16, 1956: Traded by the Brooklyn Dodgers to the Kansas City Athletics for Tom Saffell, Lee Wheat and cash.

November 20, 1957: Traded by the Kansas City Athletics with Billy Martin, Mickey McDermott, Tom Morgan, Lou Skizas and Gus Zernial to the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later, Kent Hadley, Frank House, Duke Maas, Jim Small, John Tsitouris and Bill Tuttle. The Detroit Tigers sent Jim McManus (April 3, 1958) to the Kansas City Athletics to complete the trade.
