October 13, 1941: Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates from Memphis (Southern Association) in the 1941 minor league draft.

November 18, 1947: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Al Lyons and Bill Salkeld to the Boston Braves for Johnny Hopp and Danny Murtaugh.

December 24, 1949: Traded by the Boston Braves with Ed Sauer and cash to the Brooklyn Dodgers for Luis Olmo.
