June 5, 1973: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 1973 amateur draft, but did not sign.

March 14, 1978: Signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an amateur free agent.

April 14, 1981: Sent by the Toronto Blue Jays to the New York Mets to complete an earlier deal made on April 6, 1981. The Toronto Blue Jays sent a player to be named later and cash to the New York Mets for a player to be named later and Mark Bomback. The Toronto Blue Jays sent Charlie Puleo (April 14, 1981) to the New York Mets to complete the trade.

December 16, 1982: Traded by the New York Mets with Jason Felice (minors) and Lloyd McClendon to the Cincinnati Reds for Tom Seaver.

June 5, 1985: Purchased by the Atlanta Braves from the Cincinnati Reds.
