Before 1949 Season: Signed by the St. Louis Browns as an amateur free agent.

September 17, 1956: Traded by the Baltimore Orioles with a player to be named later to the Kansas City Athletics for a player to be named later. The Baltimore Orioles sent Ryne Duren (September 21, 1956) to the Kansas City Athletics to complete the trade. The Kansas City Athletics sent Art Ceccarelli (October 11, 1956) and Al Pilarcik (October 11, 1956) to the Baltimore Orioles to complete the trade.

June 15, 1957: Traded by the Kansas City Athletics with Ryne Duren and Harry Simpson to the New York Yankees for Woodie Held, Billy Martin, Bob Martyn and Ralph Terry.

December 1, 1958: Drafted by the Milwaukee Braves from the New York Yankees in the 1958 rule 5 draft.

May 7, 1959: Returned (earlier draft pick) by the Milwaukee Braves to the New York Yankees.
