Before 1948 Season: Signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent.

October, 1955: Sent to the Kansas City Athletics by the New York Yankees as part of a conditional deal.

October 11, 1956: Sent by the Kansas City Athletics to the Baltimore Orioles to complete an earlier deal made on September 17, 1956. The Kansas City Athletics sent players to be named later to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later and Jim Pisoni.

January 24, 1961: Traded by the Baltimore Orioles with Jim Archer, Bob Boyd, Wayne Causey and Clint Courtney to the Kansas City Athletics for Whitey Herzog and Russ Snyder. Clint Courtney returned to original team on April 14, 1961.

June 10, 1961: Traded by the Kansas City Athletics with Andy Carey, Ray Herbert and Don Larsen to the Chicago White Sox for Wes Covington, Stan Johnson, Bob Shaw and Jerry Staley.
