November 5, 1976: Drafted by the Seattle Mariners from the Baltimore Orioles as the 29th pick in the 1976 expansion draft.

July 27, 1977: Traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Pittsburgh Pirates for . The Pittsburgh Pirates sent Rick Honeycutt (August 22, 1977) to the Seattle Mariners to complete the trade.
