Before 1946 Season: Signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers as an amateur free agent.

October 1, 1949: Traded by the Brooklyn Dodgers to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later and $50,000. The Pittsburgh Pirates sent Jack Cassini (October 11, 1949) to the Brooklyn Dodgers to complete the trade. (Date given is approximate. Exact date is uncertain.)

December 26, 1953: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Milwaukee Braves for Larry Lasalle (minors), Sid Gordon, Sam Jethroe, Curt Raydon, Max Surkont, Fred Waters and $100,000.

June 15, 1957: Traded by the Milwaukee Braves with Ray Crone and Bobby Thomson to the New York Giants for Red Schoendienst.

April 12, 1960: Released by the San Francisco Giants.
