out at the Players' Academy in Elizabethtown, Ky. At the time, he was a high school assistant baseball coach who had given up on playing professionally after suffering a severe right elbow injury that required a metal plate and nine screws to heal. Delabar initially participated in the program so that he could teach other players but then noticed that his own velocity slowly increased from the mid-80s to the mid-90s. The workouts focus on arm acceleration and deceleration, using a variety of weighted balls to increase shoulder and arm strength while also increasing arm speed at the same time.
