February 13, 1940: Signed as a Free Agent with the Boston Bees.

March, 1943: Purchased by San Francisco (PCL) from the Boston Braves for $5,000. (Date given is approximate. Exact date is uncertain.)

July 6, 1943: Traded by San Francisco (PCL) to the Boston Red Sox for Dee Miles and cash.

April 2, 1947: Purchased by the Cleveland Indians from the Boston Red Sox.

December 9, 1947: Traded by the Cleveland Indians with $50,000 to the St. Louis Browns for Johnny Berardino. Catfish Metkovich returned to original team on April 20, 1948. The Cleveland Indians sent $15,000 (April 20, 1948) to the St. Louis Browns to complete the trade.

May 6, 1948: Traded by the Cleveland Indians with Les Webber and cash to Oakland (PCL) for Will Hafey (minors).

June 2, 1949: Traded by Oakland (PCL) with a player to be named later to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later, Jerry Scala and cash. Oakland (PCL) sent Jerry Scala (June 11, 1949) to the Chicago White Sox to complete the trade. The Chicago White Sox sent Earl Rapp (June 11, 1949) to Oakland (PCL) to complete the trade.

February 28, 1950: Purchased by Oakland (PCL) from the Chicago White Sox.

November 16, 1950: Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates from Oakland (PCL) in the 1950 rule 5 draft.

June 4, 1953: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Joe Garagiola, Ralph Kiner and Howie Pollet to the Chicago Cubs for Bob Addis, Toby Atwell, George Freese, Gene Hermanski, Bob Schultz, Preston Ward and $150,000.
