November 27, 1955: Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates from the New York Yankees in the 1955 rule 5 draft.

June 23, 1956: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Curt Roberts to the Kansas City Athletics for Spook Jacobs.

February 19, 1957: Traded by the Kansas City Athletics with players to be named later, Wayne Belardi, Art Ditmar and Bobby Shantz to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later, Rip Coleman, Milt Graff, Billy Hunter, Mickey McDermott, Tom Morgan and Irv Noren. The New York Yankees sent Jack Urban (April 5, 1957) to the Kansas City Athletics to complete the trade. The Kansas City Athletics sent Curt Roberts (April 4, 1957) and Clete Boyer (June 4, 1957) to the New York Yankees to complete the trade.
