March 14, 1974: Signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent.

December 10, 1976: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Richie Zisk to the Chicago White Sox for Terry Forster and Rich Gossage.

November 28, 1977: Sent by the Chicago White Sox to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete an earlier deal made on August 31, 1977. The Chicago White Sox sent players to be named later to the St. Louis Cardinals for players to be named later and Clay Carroll. The Chicago White Sox sent Nyls Nyman (September 2, 1977), Dave Hamilton (November 28, 1977) and Silvio Martinez (November 28, 1977) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade.

November 20, 1981: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the St. Louis Cardinals with Lary Sorensen to the Cleveland Indians. The Cleveland Indians sent Bo Diaz to the Philadelphia Phillies.
