June 7, 1977: Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 19th round of the 1977 amateur draft. Player signed June 15, 1977.

March 30, 1982: Traded by the Kansas City Royals with Craig Chamberlain, Atlee Hammaker and Brad Wellman to the San Francisco Giants for Vida Blue and Bob Tufts.

August 30, 1984: Sent by the San Francisco Giants to the Philadelphia Phillies to complete an earlier deal made on August 20, 1984. The San Francisco Giants sent a player to be named later and Al Oliver to the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named later, Kelly Downs and George Riley.
