Son of major leaguer Willard Mains, Jim "Bud" Mains is one of just 4 players since World War I to pitch a complete game in his only MLB appearance. He later founded J.R. Mains Wood Turning Co. in Bridgton ME, which supplied souvenir bats to the Red Sox.
