June 6, 1972: Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 20th round of the 1972 amateur draft, but did not sign.

June 8, 1976: Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 30th round of the 1976 amateur draft.

December 8, 1980: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Terry Kennedy, Al Olmsted, Mike Phillips, Kim Seaman, Steve Swisher and John Urrea to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later, Rollie Fingers, Bob Shirley and Gene Tenace. The San Diego Padres sent Bob Geren (December 10, 1980) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade.

February 25, 1982: Released by the San Diego Padres.
